Did someone hit fast forward? I swear this week flew by. Maybe that's because I had to write this on Monday. ;-)
Last week I introduced you all to Flanna, my fiery red-head. Not only is she my favorite character to write, but she is one of my beta reader's favorite characters to read.
This week I'm going to give you Kate's reaction to Flanna's comments.
Enjoy!
~Pulling a chair out at the closest table, I sit down and put my face in my hands. My legs bounce; my palms sweat. I’m messing up Arland’s relationship with his people. They cannot lose respect for him. I need to focus on what’s important. Getting help for Brad.~

Hmm. What will she do? Must we wait for the answer?
ReplyDeletePunchy six. Well done.
ReplyDeleteLove the bouncing legs! Telling detail.
ReplyDeleteIntriguing. I wonder what she'll decide to do to fix the problem.
ReplyDeleteYou have to wait, Debra. Sorry! :-) But the book will be out sometime this year--lol--so you'll be out of the waiting misery soon. Then I'll start teasing you with lines from book 2, and it's AMAZING!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Alix. I swear choosing six every week is getting harder and harder!
Yeah, my poor MC is all over the place, Ruthie! ;-)
Or does she allow the problem to get worse because she has no control, Heather? hmm...haha.
I felt like I was right there with her sitting in the chair next to her. We will figure this out.
ReplyDeleteIt just might not be what she's expecting. ;-) Thanks, Kellianne!
ReplyDeleteWell, my oh my. The torture she's feeling must be intense. I love that I could feel it. Great six!
ReplyDeleteHmm, sounds like she needs a good plan! Great six!
ReplyDeleteThis poor girl has so much going on in her life it's amazing she can think straight. ;-) Thanks for stopping by Brien.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely, Lisa. Thank you!
ReplyDeletePoor Kate. What a mess she's in! Great six. But I have also been waiting to find out about the waking dreams, the shifters and the infected animals, too, LOL! And who the heck is Brad?
ReplyDeleteAre you trying to tell me I'm a big fat tease? There's crazy stuff going on in this book, huh? Soon. The book will be out soon. Then you can read all about it. (And Brad is Kate's best friend.)
DeleteBouncing legs totally goes along with nerves, great description.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Robert! :-)
DeleteFlanna? Who is this? How did I miss last week? *grumble, going back to read last weeks post* I like red-heads!
ReplyDeleteOh you'll LOVE Flanna! She's so much fun!
DeleteIntense. Great six!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Joanne! Glad you liked!
DeleteHmmm...I have to learn more about this Flanna. Seems like she's throwing a few monkeys in the wrench :D
ReplyDeleteI might pull some lines for her again next week. ;-)
DeleteExcellent show vs. tell with the bouncing leg. That's one of my bad habits, unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteSometimes that can be a really difficult thing to do. I read an article recently that said even physical reactions can be cliche. So we have to do an equal measure of thoughts vs. physical. Sigh.
DeleteThe pressure of messing up someone's relationship?? Well, that's gotta suck! :) That would make my legs bounce for sure.
ReplyDeleteOh she's definitely concerned. He's a leader of his people, and she doesn't want any of them to lose respect for him because she's there. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat descriptive six! Nice! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jennifer! :-)
DeleteNice details!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Angela.
DeleteI like the near-desperation in her tone! Nice six!

Thank you, Amy!
DeleteOooh, definitely intense! and you wonder what will happen next.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Savanna! I'm thinking I might start close to this next week. ;-)
DeleteStill loving her :D Great six!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Guilie. :-) Glad you still like my MC. She goes through lots of emotions in this book.
DeleteHmmmm. Interesting. I wonder what she said to make Kate react with so much intensity?
ReplyDelete:-) Part of what she said is last week's SSS. There's been a build up of "stuff" happening from many of the characters that makes Kate doubt her feelings...or rather sharing her feelings.
DeleteNice job on showing the inner conflict.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sue Ann.
DeleteGreat conflict here, Krystal! I can't wait to see the COVER for this one! :c)
ReplyDeleteOMG....me either! Although I already see it in my head! ;-)
DeleteWow, you certainly know how to SHOW the reader the emotions. Love that.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ginger. It's tough sometimes to find a way to convey them. It certainly took a few drafts (or ten) for me to finally feel like I got it right. ;-)
DeleteFlanna must have said something pretty intense! Great six!
ReplyDeleteI think she just scared Kate...more than anything. And it wasn't necessarily intentional on Flanna's part either...but it kind of was too. haha.
DeleteI'm partial to red-headed heroines myself! Can't wait to hear more from her. Sounds like she's got Kate in a tailspin!
ReplyDeleteFlanna is great. She has a very large part in these books!
DeleteInteresting differences between these characters.
ReplyDeleteOh Flanna has a strong, matured personality. She's been through, and seen, all. Kate lived a pretty sheltered life, and is having to learn EVERYTHING really fast. :-) Thanks, Taryn!
DeleteNice excerpt. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you LK!
DeleteGreat six! :)
ReplyDeleteSeems like she's very nervous!
ReplyDeleteQuite nervous! :-)
DeleteVery intense six!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Juli!
DeleteI'm intrigued - can't wait for more :)
ReplyDeleteGotta love those redheads--they keep a story moving. :-)
