Best Laid Plans, and Random Babbling

Okay, so there are lots of new booksies coming out, and I am only one girl. I shall try, but I don't particularly think I can remember to post all these posts on certain days because I am more concerned with the book I am writing than with the world outside my head.

Yep. It's true. Hate me if you wish. Point your finger and call me a lunatic, but I'll just ignore that and keep writing.

In the meantime, I've agreed to host a dangerously long list of new and upcoming releases by friends of mine. (Hey you, in the corner, snickering about my imaginary friends, take a hike!)

The first is by . . . Tamara Mataya! I've heard rumors about this book, and, um, that cover tells me they're true. So, if you're one of my younger fans, avert your eyes. If you're one of my older fans . . . keep reading.

Jayne Griffin isn’t looking for Mr. Right. She’s looking for Mr. RTFN and a toe-curling good time. She’s got the brains, the powerful job as a futures broker, and thanks to a makeover and a thin book of dating advice, the confidence to turn any man’s head.

Malcolm Black notices his high school crush, Jayne, from the stage of her company’s work party. His adolescent feelings for her died beneath months of abuse at the hands of bullies. Abuse that was Jayne’s fault. Though this scorching hot studio musician is unrecognizable as the band geek he used to be, the hurt still lives inside him, and he hatches a plan: Seduce Jayne into falling in love with him, and then shatter her heart.

The white-hot chemistry between them is a pleasant surprise. It all goes so smoothly until feelings start to develop... and that invitation to their ten year high school reunion lands in their inboxes.

Jayne wants the perfect lover. Malcolm wants revenge. But you know what they say about The Best Laid Plans...

Coming November 12th 2013 from Swoon Romance

Should have a cover reveal for Ayden Morgen coming on Sunday! Check back soon!

EVADE

This may be one of my favorite series and one of my favorite authors. I love Toby and Frankie and Ever and all their problems. I can't WAIT for this to come out. And HA HA! I get to read it before you do. :-P
In this thrilling sequel, Ever Van Ruysdael's race to beat the odds—and the clock—begins with the introduction of an integral part of her past. As secrets are revealed, and truths uncovered, she learns her imminent death is the least of her problems: Ariadne did more than just put an expiration date on her life; she marked Ever's soul by upping its value for greedy collectors looking to buy their freedom.

Condemned by the countdown on her life, and hunted by hired Seekers, Ever’s journey leads her to question everything she’s known and everyone she’s trusted, while growing closer to the one person from her past she was determined to avoid—and the one guy she never could—Toby James.

With her ex-boyfriend by her side, and the countdown clock rapidly ticking away, Ever tries thwarting fate’s plans. But as her nineteenth birthday approaches, and desperate Seekers follow her every move, she may be too late.

A marked soul is hard to come by … and even harder to escape

Surprise Cover Reveal

Well, I figure all my fans are probably wondering where I'm at. I assure you, I'm not dead. But I have been taking some time for me. Who knew three years of juggling kids, work, writing, promotions, and LIFE would finally weigh on me?!

So, though I've still been writing, I've taken a step away from social media. Why? Well, I've even scaled down on as much writing, too. I'm tired, folks. The stories are punching me from the inside, but my eyes can't stay open long enough to write them. I figured a few weeks would help me get back on track.

Anyway, to celebrate my step back into the "real" world, I'm here to present fellow Curiosity Quills Author Brandice Snowden's cover! This is a surprise post. She has no idea her fellow authors banded together to put this BEAUTIFUL cover out into the world. Yeah, Dawna Raver (who set this all up) rocks.

So, anyway, check out that cover. And make sure you add this book to your TBR pile on Goodreads!

BLURB: Powerful veils hold Earth apart from realms mortals believe are merely tales of myth and legend. They are opening again, leaving humans vulnerable, and the monsters ready to strike.

Marie Leveau prefers to remain alone and anonymous, for she knows what goes bump in the night, and sacrificing others isn't part of her personality. But life isn’t always about getting what you want.
Contracted by The Organization, a shadow government agency, Marie is assigned a new Special Ops team, one she must introduce via Paranormal 101 to the very monsters they didn’t believe existed. Marie and her team are sent to Asia in search of an ancient relic, leading them into the jungle and tests of a fragile new bond. Despite the initial distrust, and an unholy battle with a demon-god, the team survives, their lives forever changed and woven into an unbreakable tapestry.

Returning home, the new friends sense the very people responsible for their safety are willing to sacrifice them all in the name of power.

They learn of a prophecy, and The Paladin, the one person able to close the veils and keep the mortals safe.
With few clues, the team must unravel the prophecy and figure out how to close the veils. Or the monsters will use Earth as ground zero, innocents be damned.

Adult Urban Fantasy: Intended for readers 17 years of age and older.

Cover Reveal Time!

I love cover reveals! And this one is by fellow Curiosity Quills author, Katie Hamstead.

And look at those eyes! :-)

KIYA releases April 30th, so make sure you add it to your Goodreads TBR pile!

Blurb: To save her younger sisters from being taken to the cruel life of the palace, Naomi intervenes and gives herself to be a wife of the erratic Pharaoh Akhenaten.

In the palace, Naomi finds herself thrust into the intrigues of the royal family, and has her name changed to Kiya. She becomes beloved by the Pharaoh, who declares that she will bear him his heir. But the Great Queen Nefertiti, furious with jealousy, schemes to destroy Naomi and even brings her fidelity into question, which could cost Naomi her very life.

Naomi must play the deadly game carefully. She is in a silent battle of wills, and a struggle for who will one day inherit the crown. And if she does bear an heir, she will have to fight to protect him as well as herself from Nefertiti who is out for blood.

Colour Wielders #cover reveal

A couple years ago, I sat down and started writing a book. I hadn't realized how much that would change my life.

Shortly after completing the first draft of Wilde's Fire, I met Dawna Raver through a critique partner matching site. I'd already encountered a few wackos through the service, so I was insanely on edge about reading her work and marking it up. But, after a chapter or two, lots of google chats, and many phone calls later, I knew I liked her.

A lot.

Now I call Dawna one of my best friends. I also call her every afternoon on my way home from work. Me and the phone don't get along very well. Most of the time my kids make too much noise for me to carry on a conversation. But between 4:00 and 4:15 on my way to the Pentagon, I enjoy one of my favorite parts of the day (my other favorites are seeing my kids and husband, writing, and then sleep--in that order).

This is all very long winded. I'm here today to introduce the cover of Dawna's DEBUT novel, Colour Wielders.

Pretty, right?
Behind the Mysts, hidden from Mortal eyes, is a land where Gods and creatures of myth and legend dwell.

And in the Mortal Realm, their Princess lives.

Quinn Sinclair is clueless to who she is. She thinks she's an ordinary young woman—well, mostly ordinary—living an ordinary life with her less than loving mother in Conifer, Colorado. On the night of
her birthday, Quinn finds herself betrayed by a man who sends her life spinning out-of-control.

As she struggles to pick up the pieces, a vision of a man with haunting tourmaline-blue eyes begs her for help, and she finds herself transported into a Magykal battle forever changing her life.

Arik Morgaine—Demigod bad boy and outcast of the Magykal Realm—tried to avoid contact with Princess Quinn Sinclair for eighteen years, not wanting to make good on an old threat. But the fates have other plans. Arik can no longer deny his growing desire for Quinn, or the need to protect her from those wanting to control her burgeoning powers.

Can the two of them come together and save the Magykal Realm from being destroyed by the Darkest of Magyks, or will powers beyond their control destroy them and their world forever?

Colour Wielders will be available in digital and print formats from Curiosity Quills Press April 19, 2013. Go to dawnaraver.com for more updates.

Dreamscape Cover Reveal!

When Christie Rich told me she was looking for help with her cover reveal tour, I jumped at the chance. LOOK AT THAT COVER!

Very pretty, and makes me want to know what the heck she has in her hand. Right?

Check out the blurb:

Every night before Amelia falls asleep she makes a wish to dream of him – the man who calls her to their beautiful private oasis, her sanctuary where she is free of her greedy landlord’s threats. But tonight, he will not call Amelia to him. Tonight, another man will step into her world to claim her. Tonight, Amelia’s shattering reality will crumble - and disappear into the Dreamscape…along with her freedom.

When Amelia dreams tonight, her nightmare becomes her new world where Seth is her captor and anything is possible…except escape. Seth needs Amelia to break the curse that binds him to the Dreamscape. He must convince her that she was made to free him, that she was made to join him.

For if he fails, he will never escape his prison, and he will lose Earth to the Netherworld where the evil Erobos wait to consume the human realm and everything in it. If he fails, Seth will lose the one thing that matters to him: Amelia.

Doesn't that sound AWESOME?!

I grew up daydreaming about fairytales, and my love for discovering new worlds has never died. I am not one of those writers who always knew I would write. I thought that was what other people did until one day a few years ago, I took a challenge from a friend and typed my first words. My journey has been wonderful, and I cannot imagine a day where I would ever give up writing. My love for reading is what fueled my imagination in the first place and still does. When I am not writing or reading, I am enjoying family time with my husband and two children. I also dabble in painting but writing has taken over my creative time right now.  I hope to get back to it at some point in my life, but I'm not sure when I'll have time for it.  My family and I live in a quiet community  in Northern Utah, and I am so thankful for the rich life I have been blessed with.

The Charge #coverreveal

Last May, I still worked for Curiosity Quills Press and had the wonderful experience of reading submissions. During this process, I met Sharon Bayliss. She's quite a talented author, and I loved being able to tell her "YES! You will be published!"

Today is her big Cover Reveal day, and I couldn't be happier to host her. Her book comes out in the next couple months, and it's something Sci-Fi fans will adore!

What if Texas never joined the United States, and instead became it's own nation?

In The Charge that's exactly what happened. In the 1830s, the Republic of Texas was taken over by a dictator with superhuman powers who named himself the first King of Texas. Eighty years later, the Texas Empire has fallen into ruin, but the story of the Texas royal dynasty is far from over.

College freshman Warren King wants nothing more than to enjoy a beer by the pool on his summer break...but that's not what fate has in store for him. When Texas soldiers kidnap his little brother, he embarks into a still-wild West to save him.  While fumbling through a search attempt in the lawless Texas Empire, he makes a discovery that changes his life forever. He and his brother are estranged members of the Texas royal family and the King wants them both dead.  Now Warren must save his brother and choose whether or not to be King, follow a King, or die before he can retire his fake ID.

The Charge was a quarterfinalist for the 2012 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award and won a Publisher's Weekly review:

"A solid cast of well-developed characters, including a “super-tall” royal Texan family, stars in this thrill ride of a novel teetering between sci-fi adventure and alternate historical epic...Easily shifting between characters’ perspectives, and relentless in its action, well-placed humor, and suspense, this manuscript is a delight."

The Charge will be available in digital and print formats from Curiosity Quills Press on Texas Independence Day, 3/2/13. Go to www.facebook.com/thechargebook for updates.

Paradise Earth

Another cover reveal? Really?

Yes. It's true. Curiosity Quills is pumping out the beautiful covers, and I'm here with the cover of fellow author, Anthony Mathenia's, Paradise Earth.

This novel releases December 21st from Curiosity Quills Press!

When the ground quakes and blazing balls of fire fall from the sky, a religious sect interprets it as the fulfillment of long-held prophecies foretelling the end of the world. The members flee to their religious sanctuary, believing that this global cataclysm is the portent of a new paradise of eternal happiness.

Inside, one cold and starving man struggles to hold onto his hope for the future. He’s sacrificed everything for his faith in the prophecy, including his family. As the tortuous night drags on, he struggles to hold onto his hope for the future and grapples with a lifetime of beliefs, and expectations. If he survives to see the paradise earth, will it be worth it?

Interesting release for the day the world is supposed to end, huh?

Anthony Mathenia is a novelist and freelance writer. He has a weekly romance serial titled Happiness: How to Find It published on curiosityquills.com and a weekly offbeat travel column on Vagobond.com. Paradise Earth: Day Zero is his debut novel. Sanity Vacuum #CoverReveal

Hi, guys! I'm taking a break from the Haunted Clinic and Contest to bring you another amazing cover from the team at Curiosity Quills!

Sanity Vacuum (by Thea Gregory) releases December 6th!

Vivian Skye just finished university, and qualified for her first-choice internship. Not many would consider the distant and isolated Extra-Galactic Observatory cushy, but it’s a dream come true for Vivian. Hailing from the low-tech planet of Aurora, she studied hard for this opportunity—and to leave her old life, and planet behind.

Her assignment is simple: perform a routine upgrade for the station’s supercomputer, quIRK. Her reception isn’t a friendly one, and eccentric quIRK becomes her only friend. However, the station’s administrator, Bryce Zimmer is obsessed with quIRK—he suspects that the station’s computer may have achieved sentience, something explicitly prohibited by the ABACUS Protocol. Compounding their issues, Bryce’s traumatic and privileged past makes him distrust Vivian from the beginning. Desperate to keep control, he sabotages quIRK in order to eliminate Vivian. But, his plan threatens to consume the entire station and send them into the unknown void of intergalactic space.

Vivian must struggle to survive not only Bryce’s megalomania, but also the emerging artificial super intelligence that is quIRK. Can Vivian and quIRK learn to trust each other and work together, before it’s too late?

Sounds awesome, right?! I know I can't wait to read it!

Thea Gregory is a farm girl from English Western Quebec, a total nerd, and she loves science fiction, zombies and physics. Better Late than Later

Better late than later is a quote my favorite lawyer created, and today, I have to agree with him.

I'm failing at being BEE for my very own Jamie Ayres. So rather than delay any longer, I'm here to reveal the cover for her book 18 Things!

Can eighteen things save a life?

Olga Gay Worontzoff thinks her biggest problems are an awful name (after her grandmothers of course) and not attending prom with Conner, her best friend and secret crush since kindergarten. Then Conner is killed in a freak accident, and Olga feels responsible.

The sarcastic, nerdy girl who never missed a day of school is suddenly lost and unable to deal with the emotional pain. When she downs an entire bottle of pain pills, her parents force her into counseling. There, her therapist writes a prescription in the form of a life list titled 18 Things. Eighteen quests to complete the year of her eighteenth birthday.

Olga enlists the help of her friends and becomes a catalyst for healing in their own lives as they eagerly offer suggestions. Alls she has to do is fire-walk, try out for the cheerleading squad, break a world record, and err . . . go on her first date. Good thing Nate, a new hottie in town, enters her life with perfect timing. He brings the fun factor to her list and helps her discover the beauty and strength inside herself, then complicates things by falling in love with her.

Maybe it’s time to put into practice the lessons her list has taught her. Just as she’s finally embracing the joys of YOLO, her therapist reveals a big secret, and
Olga’s world is shaken. In the past year it took eighteen remarkable things to change a life, but nothing she believed about her mission is true. Now she doesn’t just risk losing her true soul-mate forever, she risks losing her very soul. There’s only one thing she knows for certain. Her choice will affect their future for all eternity.

Jamie Ayres writes young adult paranormal love stories by night and teaches young adults as a public school teacher by day. She lives in southwest Florida with her husband and two daughters. 18 Things is her debut novel. Visit her website.

Armed with hope, confidence in her abilities, and a strange new gift from her mother, Kate ventures into the Darkness to defeat a fallen god.

But falling for Toby comes with a price that throws Ever’s life into a whirlwind of chaos and drama. More than hearts are on the line, and more than Ever will suffer.

Oh wait. There's more! (Anyone else hearing one of those infomercial guys when you read this?)

BLURB: What do you do when you realize nothing in your life is what you’ve believed it to be?

When Arionna Jacobs loses her mother in a tragic accident, her world is turned upside down. She’s forced to leave her old life behind and move in with her father. Dace Matthews, a teaching assistant at her new college, is torn in two, unable to communicate with the feral wolf caged inside him.

When they meet, everything they thought they knew about life unravels. Dace has intimate access to Arionna’s mind, and something deep within her fights to rise to the surface. They don't understand what's happening to them or why, and they're running out of time to sort out the strange occurrences around them.

Their meeting sets an ancient Norse prophesy of destruction in motion, and what destiny has in store for them is bigger than either could have ever imagined. Unless they learn to trust themselves and one another, they may never resolve the mystery surrounding who they are to one another, and what that means for the world.

EVER

Eight plus months ago, I took on a part time job with an Independent Publisher. Eight months ago, I never imagined how quickly that job would grow into something so rewarding, so amazing, that I'd find myself becoming friends with uber-talented authors such as Jessa Russo. I mean, I already knew the writing community is a strong, supportive one--My best friend is a writer and my crit partner. My other best friend is a writer, a publisher, and a new mother. Oh, and before I forget, my other best friend is my mother-in-law (hi, Nana!)

BUT

I never knew how absolutely motherly I'd feel after signing an author, editing her book, talking her off a few ledges, nearly crying with her when the first 5-star review from an ARC came in, and finally getting the email that said, "I LOVE MY COVER!" My heart swelled as if I was watching Kid #1 get on the bus for the first time.

With that said, I am proud of Jessa Russo. I believe this book will be huge, and I'm just happy she allowed me to be a part of her experience.

So without further rambling, here's EVER'S blurb and gorgeous cover!

Seventeen-year-old Ever’s love life has been on hold for the past two years. She’s secretly in love with her best friend Frankie, and he’s completely oblivious.
