Colour Wielders by Dawna Raver

Since I'm a total slacker and can only focus on revisions and writing (YAY), I'm going to let Dawna say whatever she wants here. :-)

                                     ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm happy to announce that Colour Wielders is back on the market with a pretty new face and updated content. It thrills me to be able to share it with you today. Thank you Jade Hart at Black Firefly for all her work, Michelle Johnson for my amazing cover, and Danielle Blanchard for all your hard work and help. If you have time, please stop by Facebook tonight and party with us at 4:00 central https://www.facebook.com/events/314183782060128 hosted by the wonderful Leslie Whitaker.
Behind the Faerying Mysts, hidden from Mortal eyes, is a land where gods and creatures of myth and legend dwell. And in the Mortal Realm, their Princess is hidden away. Quinn Sinclair lives an ordinary life with her less-than-loving mother in Conifer, Colorado, clueless of her true nature. On the night of her birthday, a staggering betrayal sends her life spinning out-of-control. As she struggles to pick up the pieces, a vision of a man with haunting tourmaline-blue eyes begs her for help, and she is transported into a Magykal battle-forever changing her life.
Arik Morgaine—Demigod bad boy and outcast of the Magykal Realm—tried to avoid contact with Princess Quinn for eighteen years, not wanting to make good on an old threat. But the fates have other plans. Arik can no longer deny his growing desire for Quinn, or the need to protect her from those wanting to control her burgeoning powers. Can the two of them come together and save the Magykal Realm from being destroyed by the Darkest of Magyks?
  New Adult. Recommended for 18 and above. Mature themes, sexual situations, and profanity.
Surprise Cover Reveal
Well, I figure all my fans are probably wondering where I'm at. I assure you, I'm not dead. But I have been taking some time for me. Who knew three years of juggling kids, work, writing, promotions, and LIFE would finally weigh on me?!
So, though I've still been writing, I've taken a step away from social media. Why? Well, I've even scaled down on as much writing, too. I'm tired, folks. The stories are punching me from the inside, but my eyes can't stay open long enough to write them. I figured a few weeks would help me get back on track.
Anyway, to celebrate my step back into the "real" world, I'm here to present fellow Curiosity Quills Author Brandice Snowden's cover! This is a surprise post. She has no idea her fellow authors banded together to put this BEAUTIFUL cover out into the world. Yeah, Dawna Raver (who set this all up) rocks.
So, anyway, check out that cover. And make sure you add this book to your TBR pile on Goodreads!
BLURB: Powerful veils hold Earth apart from realms mortals believe are merely tales of myth and legend. They are opening again, leaving humans vulnerable, and the monsters ready to strike.
Marie Leveau prefers to remain alone and anonymous, for she knows what goes bump in the night, and sacrificing others isn't part of her personality. But life isn’t always about getting what you want.
Contracted by The Organization, a shadow government agency, Marie is assigned a new Special Ops team, one she must introduce via Paranormal 101 to the very monsters they didn’t believe existed. Marie and her team are sent to Asia in search of an ancient relic, leading them into the jungle and tests of a fragile new bond. Despite the initial distrust, and an unholy battle with a demon-god, the team survives, their lives forever changed and woven into an unbreakable tapestry.
Returning home, the new friends sense the very people responsible for their safety are willing to sacrifice them all in the name of power.
They learn of a prophecy, and The Paladin, the one person able to close the veils and keep the mortals safe.
With few clues, the team must unravel the prophecy and figure out how to close the veils. Or the monsters will use Earth as ground zero, innocents be damned.
Adult Urban Fantasy: Intended for readers 17 years of age and older.
Colour Wielders #newrelease
The time has FINALLY come for my good friend and critique partner Dawna Raver's book to come out. I've seen so many different versions of this story that I'm going to have to read the whole book again before I can review it, and that's just fine with me because ARIK is HOT!
Sorry, girls, he's mine!
Anyway, you've all seen the cover, right? Well, now you've seen it again. You can buy this baby on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, iTunes, Kobo, and I'm pretty sure there are other places as well. Dawna was kind enough to sit down with Arik (yumm) and interview him for this blog, so I'll let you start reading that now!
Dawna Raver: Hi Arik. Long time no see.
(I say this trying to keep my tongue from lolling out of my mouth. The man is hot in his tight, black T-shirt and jeans. The energy radiating from him comes to me in colorful hues. It makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end.)
Arik Morgaine: I've been busy. Very busy.
Dawna Raver: I'm sure. I appreciate you taking time to speak with me.
Arik Morgaine: Hmph.
(He rolls his tourmaline-blue eyes, exasperated, but I can't help but swoon.)
Dawna Raver: So, you said you've been busy. What's going on?
Arik Morgaine: Things you couldn't possible grasp, being Mortal and all.
(He says the word Mortal with a sneer as he leans forward, staring me down. His Irish/Swedish accent sends shivers across my skin.)
Dawna Raver: Hmm. Well, Mortal or not, how about you enlighten me anyway.
(I stare right back at him. Gorgeous Demigod or not, I refuse to be intimated.)
Arik Morgaine: (He sighs.) Things are going down. Unexpected things. Things that shouldn't be happening.
Dawna Raver: Oh you mean like the Changeling coming back?
(Arik stiffens at the mention of the Changeling.)
Arik Morgaine: How do you know about that?
Dawna Raver: (I smile.) I have my ways.
(Considering me, he rubs his chin with hand, and one, long finger brushes over the sexy cleft in his chin.)
Arik Morgaine: The Establishment, I expect.
Dawna Raver: No, not the Establishment. But I did speak with King Finn Bheara the other day. He sends
his love.
Arik Morgaine: Ha! I'm sure. There's no love lost there. I refuse to bow to him and his two cronies until
they come clean. Admit to what's going on under their noses.
Dawna Raver: One of those cronies is your father, Týr, the infamous War God?
Arik Morgaine: Yeah. And your point?
Dawna Raver: No point. So, have you heard from your mother, Mor—?
(He stands abruptly, and scowls down at me.)
Arik Morgaine: Do. Not. Say. Her. Name.
(I hold up my hands and look around nervously. Arik sits back down.)
Dawna Raver: Oh, okay. Um, are you afraid she might hear us?
Arik Morgaine: No. I'd just like to go a day without being reminded of who my mother is. Thankfully, I
favor my father.
Dawna Raver: Well, except for your widow's peak.
(He runs his hand through his hair, and grimaces.)
Arik Morgaine: Yeah. Are we about done here? I have places to be, things to do.
Dawna Raver: Sure. Just one more question. Have you heard anything about the Princess? Checked up on
her? I hear your old friend Devin MacGregor is staying at her house.
Arik Morgaine: She is less than nothing to me, and he more so. This interview is over.
(He growls and waves his hand, disappearing from sight. I suck in a surprised breath.)
Dawna Raver: Was it something I said? Darn. I wanted to ask him about his Colours. Well, maybe next
time.
I pull out a bottle of tequila and pour myself a shot. I'd hoped to do one with Arik, but he was kind of grumpy. Seriously, he has a lot on his plate to deal with. His mother alone is scary enough. No wonder he's grumpy. Oh, and don't ask me to name her. Because she might be listening, and I don't want to incur her wrath.
I take the shot then go in search of Quinn Sinclair. Hopefully, she's in a much better mood.
Krystal: Well, that ended rather abruptly. We'll have to try catching up with Arik again soon . . . maybe in the book!
Colour Wielders #cover reveal
A couple years ago, I sat down and started writing a book. I hadn't realized how much that would change my life.
Shortly after completing the first draft of Wilde's Fire, I met Dawna Raver through a critique partner matching site. I'd already encountered a few wackos through the service, so I was insanely on edge about reading her work and marking it up. But, after a chapter or two, lots of google chats, and many phone calls later, I knew I liked her.
A lot.
Now I call Dawna one of my best friends. I also call her every afternoon on my way home from work. Me and the phone don't get along very well. Most of the time my kids make too much noise for me to carry on a conversation. But between 4:00 and 4:15 on my way to the Pentagon, I enjoy one of my favorite parts of the day (my other favorites are seeing my kids and husband, writing, and then sleep--in that order).
This is all very long winded. I'm here today to introduce the cover of Dawna's DEBUT novel, Colour Wielders.
Pretty, right?
Behind the Mysts, hidden from Mortal eyes, is a land where Gods and creatures of myth and legend dwell.
And in the Mortal Realm, their Princess lives.
Quinn Sinclair is clueless to who she is. She thinks she's an ordinary young woman—well, mostly ordinary—living an ordinary life with her less than loving mother in Conifer, Colorado. On the night of
her birthday, Quinn finds herself betrayed by a man who sends her life spinning out-of-control.
As she struggles to pick up the pieces, a vision of a man with haunting tourmaline-blue eyes begs her for help, and she finds herself transported into a Magykal battle forever changing her life.
Arik Morgaine—Demigod bad boy and outcast of the Magykal Realm—tried to avoid contact with Princess Quinn Sinclair for eighteen years, not wanting to make good on an old threat. But the fates have other plans. Arik can no longer deny his growing desire for Quinn, or the need to protect her from those wanting to control her burgeoning powers.
Can the two of them come together and save the Magykal Realm from being destroyed by the Darkest of Magyks, or will powers beyond their control destroy them and their world forever?
Colour Wielders will be available in digital and print formats from Curiosity Quills Press April 19, 2013. Go to dawnaraver.com for more updates.
