BIG NEWS!!! Wilde's Fire is now CONTRACTED with Noble Young Adult! Don't have an official release date yet, BUT I can say it will be soon. YAY!
So this is a continuation from where we left off last week.
Enjoy!
~For a moment everything and everyone disappear. The only things I can see are Brad’s fist, his anger and his broken heart. I cannot allow this to happen. I have to stop him before this situation gets any uglier. With hopes to bring Brad out of his fury, I push myself in front of Arland.
My former best friend’s fist slams into my left eye.~

DeleteThanks for the congrats!
That's going to leave a mark! Awesome news on your contract.
ReplyDeleteA really ugly yellow and black mark! Ewww.
DeleteThank you!
Things just got into the ugly the protagonist was hoping to avoid. Congratulations on your new contract! Enjoy your happy dance.
ReplyDeleteYou should never come between two testosterone filled men. ;-)

ReplyDeleteThank you, Sue! :-) Glad I surprised you!
DeleteHoly shizzle sticks!! :) Congrats on the contract!! A writer's dream! This little passage gets the nerves all atwitter (no pun intended). I love reading these little excerpts. :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a dream! :-) Glad you like the excerpt!
DeleteWoop woop! Time to break out the champagne! And, ouch! What was she doing stepping between two guys?
ReplyDeleteShe wasn't thinking! And I'm down for champagne! As long as it's cheap (bottom shelf) asti spumante I'll drink it. Don't you love my refined tastes?
DeleteCongratulations!! Your wonderful talent accompanied by perseverance and hard work is paying off.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - this is so great! Congrats :)
ReplyDeleteOuch! That's gotta suck. I'll admit though that since this is an action scene I felt the introspection kind of took away from the immediacy of the moment, but then again this is only six sentences so it's hard to judge how it would read overall. Still, definitely has an impact! Pun intended. ;)
ReplyDeleteYou know I worried about the same thing when I pulled these sentences out. In the scene it works (or at least none of my crit partners or beta readers have complained about it not working), but alone the fist to the eye doesn't provide quite the same impact. I'll definitely keep your comment in mind when I'm going through this chapter with my editor. Thank you for being honest! :-)
DeleteCongratulations on the huge news! I am soooo excited for you!
ReplyDeleteThank you! Let's party!
DeleteGreat six. Congratulations on your contract!
ReplyDeleteThank you! :-)
DeleteCongrats on the contract!! Wonderful six, too!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Glad you enjoyed.
DeleteSo happy for you! Congratulations!!! :)
ReplyDelete:-) Thank you! Hope you're feeling better!
DeleteI can honestly say I didn't see that happening. The fist...not your contract. Good job! (happy dance!)
ReplyDeleteHaha. Poor girl just didn't know he'd hit her. And I'll be dancing in the streets on release day!
