Give Thanks

I have a lot to be thankful for this year. 2012 has been a whirlwind of publishing books and taking on major roles within a publishing house and making friends.

It's also been a year that I've realized great things are within my reach, and trust me, I'm about to grab them!

So, with that, I'm here to THANK YOU. My family, my friends, my peers, my fans, everyone who reads my blogs or my books or helps spread the news I'm always blabbering about.

Without you and your help and support, I'd be nothing. It is through your faith in me that I can do the things I do, and it is through your smiling faces that I continually move forward.

I hope everyone in the U.S. has a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving, and to those who don't live here, I hope your Thursday and Friday and every day for the rest of your lives are filled with JOY!

Now that all the mushy gushy is out of the way, I need to let you in on a little secret. Curiosity Quills, my publisher, has decided to host a Black Friday Blowout! Every one of our titles is now just 99 cents! Can you believe that?

If you've been waiting to buy Wilde's Army and Meadow (Wilde's Fire was already 99 cents), you don't have to wait any longer.

But you have to HURRY! This 99 cent Blow Out lasts through Sunday, then the prices go up to $7 or $9 or something like that!

And, just so you know, if you purchase any of my titles, a portion of the proceeds will go to Hurricane Sandy relief funds.

What could be better than that?

Check out the Curiosity Quills catalogue and then head over to Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, iTunes, or wherever you buys books and grab your copy today.

My Wildest Moment

So I've asked you guys to post your Wildest Moment for the blogfest/blog hop, and I think it's time for me to talk about mine. Yes, talk. Sometimes my most inspired moments occur in the car, and rather than pull over and write them down, I record them.

LISTEN HERE====>>>>>My Wildest Moment<<<<=====LISTEN HERE

For those of you who'd prefer to read a transcript of my Wildest Moment, I've been generous enough to type this for you.

Enjoy!

I've had a lot of wild moments in my life. A lot of wild moments. But not all of them were particularly inspirational. A lot of them were definitely life changing. Not always for the better either.

If you're close to me, you know that my teenage years were troubled. Troubled would be putting it lightly. If you're not close to me, you probably think that I'm a very innocent, modest woman who rarely uses foul language and is sweet as pie--and you would be totally wrong.

Although I'm not that same troubled teenager I was--I have definitely recovered from that dark period in my life--it's definitely made me the strong woman I am today. Now, however, this is about wild moments.

So, again, I had a lot of wild moments. But one particularly wild moment in my life, one that really changed my course, was when my poor parents couldn't take my troubled youth-self anymore. You know, they put me through hell, I put them through hell, and we both seemed to be fighting for what we believed in and what was right, and they just kind of hit a breaking point with me. They asked me to sign a contract to live under their roof. They thought, alright, she doesn't want to be homeless, let's have her sign this contract. She has to abide by a certain amount of rules, and if she doesn't, she can't live here anymore.

This contract was like a beacon for my troubled teenage self. It screamed SIGN IT SIGN IT SIGN IT. BREAK IT BREAK IT BREAK IT.

LEAVE.

This is all I ever really wanted to do was leave, run away from my problems. I wanted to be--it's not so much that I wanted to run away from my problems, but I thought that if I could get a fresh start, if I could get out of the rut I was in, that I would somehow magically be better.

I was wrong, of course, but anyway, I digress.

So I signed this contract, gladly, knowing that I had every intention of breaking it. And I did. Really fast. And I remember the argument with my parents. I'm sure it tore them--they probably remember it more than I do. But I just remember that feeling of relief when I came home after breaking that contract and thinking finally I have an escape, I can escape all this darkness, I can leave it behind me.

And so I left. We fought. I left.

And I kept my job at an Ihop, and I lived in my friends' apartment with them.

And let me tell you: life wasn't any better.

I was a 16 year old girl trying to live on my own, and luckily I had friends who had apartments and I wasn't totally homeless, and I did have a good job where I made decent money as a waitress, which is not a lot of money, but as a 16 year old, you don't really have a lot of bills. So it seemed like a lot then.

But, since I was a 16 year old girl, my parents had a conversation with my employer, and my employer let me go. My parents came to me, waving a white flag, and they said, alright Krystal, you can't keep going down this path. This isn't the life you want to live.

I knew they were right. For once, I kind of agreed with them.

I knew this was not the life I wanted to live. Krystal Wade--not my real name, but Krystal Wade--did not want to live a life of working in restaurants and living out of other people's apartments and having a broken family life.

I knew that. I knew that's not what I wanted.

So when they came with their white flag and said, your sister, in Virginia, has offered for you to come and live with her. I jumped on it.

I left everything behind. I didn't say goodbye to my friends. I didn't say goodbye to my boyfriend. I just got in my parent's car, let them take me down to my brother's house in Dallas while I was waiting for my plane trip. I had a small duffle bag full of things that I probably didn't need, and I flew to Virginia.

All because I was wild and I broke that contract.

And let me tell you: my troubles followed me because part of my trouble was with myself. My trouble was that I didn't believe enough in myself, I didn't believe I was truly a good person, I didn't believe I was deserving of love--and not even my own love.

But that move, that move, that wild moment where I just fled, I knew that I could make things better. And I did. I worked really hard. Things did get worse before they got totally better, but I made a life in Virginia. And let me tell you, you can make your own life, you can carve out your path in any mountain that stands before you. All you have to do is carry that determination with you and move forward, and it doesn't matter who stands in your way, you can carve out a wonderful life for yourself . . . if you try.

So, the point of this story: even when times are dark, even when you are at your wildest--maybe not best but wildest--moment and you do something totally life changing, it can still work out okay, and I'm living proof of it.

Every day, I think that thank God, thank GOD!

So, that is all. That is my wildest moment. I do not recommend that anybody ever get in enough trouble where they have to sign a contract to live at home with their parents. That is all.

Thank you for listening.

Haunted Clinic and Wilde's Meadow #TEASER!

Welcome back, Minions--see, that was much better than yesterday's intro!

Some of you are here because you're dying to quench your growing thirst for a glimpse into Wilde's Meadow, the third and final book in my Darkness Falls series. And some of you are here because you're part of the Curiosity Quills Haunted Writing Clinic and Contest.

I'm here because . . . ahh, well, I have what everyone's looking for.

So, to keep the rambling short, and to give you all what you desire, I'll shut up and get to pasting!

Enjoy!

(Clinic guests, please stay tuned after the first page!)

DISCLAIMER: IF YOU HAVE NOT YET READ WILDE'S FIRE OR ARMY--AND PLAN TO--PLEASE, DO NOT READ THIS TEASER!

Chapter One

"You let that greasy pig off too easily," Flanna mumbles, holding a sharp, wooden needle between her lips.

I glance down at the top of her red head. "If it weren't for that greasy pig, you wouldn't be sewing this ridiculous looking costume on me right now."

She removes the torture device from her mouth and glares at me, narrowing her brilliant blue eyes. "This is not a costume, and it is not ridiculous. You already died once. Next time you may not be as lucky."

Three days have passed since Arland and I committed our lives to each other, to these people and world—uniting everyone in the process—and as much as things have changed, a few of my friends still have issues getting over misunderstandings from a long time ago.

"Flanna, I know what happened to your mom, and I know you blame Dufaigh, but he is trying to be good." I jump from the creaking stool she has me standing on like an abused model, then take her hand in mine. "He's brought leather and metal for you to make armor for me, like you so oddly requested. He hasn't threatened to kill anyone, he hasn't argued, he hasn't done anything that should make us think otherwise."

She huffs, blowing hair from her face. "I know. I believe that is my problem. I have never trusted him, but now with him being . . . nice, I trust him even less." Flanna grabs the soft, muddy-brown suede draped over my shoulders and pulls me closer. "Now, hold still so I can finish this."

I roll my eyes and suck in a breath. I don't think I can handle another needle prick; I already have dried blood spots sprinkled over my shoulders.

"Flanna?" I watch her slide the pointed wood dangerously close to my skin.

"Kate?" she says in her usual sarcastic way, the one I've missed since Lann died. Prophecies or no prophecies, most people are still clueless as to their future, the fate of their friends, family, and loved ones. Flanna didn't have time to prepare for Lann's death, and his early end wasn't fair, but her panicky attempt at creating armor for me—when she is clearly not a dresser—makes me wonder what she does know.

"What are you hiding from me?"

Flanna growls.

"You seem so nervous about my safety all of a sudden. I mean with the armor, and never leaving my side, and—"

She shakes her head. "You—"

THE END! :-)

Wouldn't you all kill me if that was it?

Anyhoo, Clinic Guests, what did that first page do for you? Now, you have to remember this is the third in a series. I have a bit more room to move on with the story, but if you read the first page of the first novel in this series, you'll know that moving forward quickly--sucking the reader right in--is the best thing to do. And what better way to end a first page than with a big question?

I want you to get out there and WOW your readers!

<3 Krystal

Bittersweet Love #wildesmeadow #sixsunda

Welcome back, guys!

Last week me and the family were off at the ball park, National's Park to be exact. We had a fantastic time. Today we're rooting on my sister-in-law as she runs a marathon here in DC!

Least someone is doing good for themselves.

This week's six comes from the soon-to-be-released Wilde's Meadow. Kate and Arland are back in their room, a little bothered by the gift Mom gave them, and tomorrow is the day they leave for battle.

This is kind of a bittersweet moment.

Enjoy!

~"Are you afraid?" He asks the question as though he already knows the answer.

"Yes." I think that's why I didn't want to dance, didn't want anyone to see us, and didn't want to celebrate, because this war has only just begun. Everything I hold dear, everything I love more passionately than I imagined possible could be lost.

"If we die, we die fighting."~

So sad.

Strange Gifts #wildesmeadow #sixsunday

Did you see the cover for Wilde's Meadow? Wow. I love my artist. He's absolutely amazing!

November 5th can't come fast enough!

So, if you've read the blurb for Wilde's Meadow, you'll know that Kate's mother gives her a strange gift. I'm here to "show" that gift to you.

Enjoy!

~ Mom returns holding a silver tin about the size of a sandwich, appropriately contained in a sandwich bag. She takes a deep breath. "When you are at a loss, when no other options present themselves, when you have no direction and are not sure where to turn, you may open this. Do not peek, do not rush to see what this tin contains, for if you do, you will disrupt order and stray from the path of Light."
I swallow hard, reaching out to take the odd gift from her. "How will I know?"~

Wow. With directives that stern, how would she know?

Curious Covers

You've waited forever for this moment, haven't you?

I know I have!

Wilde's Meadow is set to release November 5th--have you put that date on a calendar yet?--and I'm here to show you the pretty cover, as well as mention a couple other upcoming Curiosity Quills releases!

BLURB: Happy endings are hard to find, and even though Katriona is in the middle of a war with someone who’s already stolen more than she can replace, she aches for a positive future with her Draíochtans.

Armed with hope, confidence in her abilities, and a strange new gift from her mother, Kate ventures into the Darkness to defeat a fallen god.

Losses add up, and new obstacles rise to stand in the way. Is the one determined to bring Encardia light strong enough to keep fighting, or will all the sacrifices to stop those who seek domination be for nothing?

Pretty, right? I happen to like this one more than the others. I know the cover for Wilde's Fire is awesome, but this one . . . wow!

Add to your Goodreads TBR list NOW!

Wilde's Fire: B&N, Amazon, Kobo, & iTunes

Wilde's Army: Amazon, B&N

And if that wasn't enough to please your sense of sight, how about this cover?

BLURB: Seventeen-year-old Ever’s love life has been on hold for the past two years. She’s secretly in love with her best friend Frankie, and he’s completely oblivious.

Of course, it doesn't help that he’s dead, and waking up to his ghost every day has made moving on nearly impossible.

Frustrated and desperate for something real, Ever finds herself falling for her hot new neighbor Toby. His relaxed confidence is irresistible, and not just Ever knows it. But falling for Toby comes with a price that throws Ever’s life into a whirlwind of chaos and drama. More than hearts are on the line, and more than Ever will suffer.

Some girls lose their hearts to love.

Some girls lose their minds.

Ever Van Ruysdael could lose her soul.

Add to your Goodreads TBR List!

Oh wait. There's more! (Anyone else hearing one of those infomercial guys when you read this?)

BLURB: What do you do when you realize nothing in your life is what you’ve believed it to be?

When Arionna Jacobs loses her mother in a tragic accident, her world is turned upside down. She’s forced to leave her old life behind and move in with her father. Dace Matthews, a teaching assistant at her new college, is torn in two, unable to communicate with the feral wolf caged inside him.

When they meet, everything they thought they knew about life unravels. Dace has intimate access to Arionna’s mind, and something deep within her fights to rise to the surface. They don't understand what's happening to them or why, and they're running out of time to sort out the strange occurrences around them.

Their meeting sets an ancient Norse prophesy of destruction in motion, and what destiny has in store for them is bigger than either could have ever imagined. Unless they learn to trust themselves and one another, they may never resolve the mystery surrounding who they are to one another, and what that means for the world.

Honor Life #wildesmeadow #sixsunday

Wilde's Meadow Cover Reveal hits the web this Wednesday! Be on the lookout!

Last week one of you precious readers questioned why Kate and Arland were at a party BEFORE a war. This week, I'm here to share that reasoning with you.

Enjoy!

~The tables and chairs have been pushed closer to the walls, opening up the great room for dancers. Arland and I have sat in the back left corner all evening, away from everyone I'm supposed to enjoy our last night here with, away from the music, the eyes, the forced happiness.

Pre-war celebrations are disturbing. Everyone in here knows we may fail and that some of us may die, yet our people smile.

"They are here to honor life, Kate. Now, are you going to honor ours and dance with me?"~
